Unusual options activity is volume running well above what a ticker normally trades — a spike that stands out against its own baseline. It's the classic reason a name lands on a flow scanner.
Unusual doesn't mean bullish or bearish on its own. Big call buying can be a hedge; big put buying can be protection on a long position. Treat unusual activity as a prompt to investigate, then look for a catalyst and the directional lean before drawing any conclusion.
